SEMIFIVE Accelerates Global Expansion of Semiconductor Design Platform with KRW 67.5 billion in New Series B1 Funding round

SEMIFIVE (CEO Brandon Cho Myung-Hyun), a semiconductor platform company, announced the completion of its Series B1 investment round KRW 67.5 billion. The successful investment drive the company’s growth and further cement its position as a Samsung Foundry’s leading SAFETM Design Solution Partner (DSP), as well as support its expansion into the global market.

To date, SEMIFIVE has raised a total of KRW 237.5 billion in funds through four investment rounds since its inception. Existing investors who rejoined the B1 round include Korea Development Bank, Korea Investment Partners, SV Investment, and Zephyrus Lab while Shinhan Securities and Doosan came on board as new financial and strategic investors, respectively.

Despite the industry’s recent decline in investor sentiment, SEMIFIVE’s innovative semiconductor design platform has been a significant factor in attracting the additional investments. The platform addresses challenges of process miniaturization and increased chip design complexity, providing a solution that reduces the overall cost time and risks associated when developing a custom chip have already developed their own domain specific semiconductors independently, at a high cost and time investment. However, SEMIFIVE’s unique design platform maximizes design assets reusability through its design automation technology enabling more companies who face cost and time constraints to access to specialized silicon chips.

“We aim to go for IPO in 2025, based on our entry into the global market and full-scale mass-production. SEMIFIVE’s vision is to become the new global hub of custom silicon and through this, we will contribute to the development of Korea’s system semiconductor infrastructure and grow into a global company that leads the semiconductor industry.” said Brandon Cho Myung-Hyun, CEO and founder of SEMIFIVE.

SEMIFIVE has developed three SoC design platforms to date and has seven custom silicon projects using these platforms. Recently, it has also announced mass production start of an AI Inference chip built on the company’s 14nm AI SoC Platform.  These achievements are a testament to the success of SEMIFIVE’s SoC platform business model.

With the completion of the latest round of investment and verification of its business model, SEMIFIVE is continuing to accelerate its global expansion plans. “SEMIFIVE’s customized semiconductor platform is receiving great attention not only in Korea but also abroad, and we are looking forward to tangible results this year by actively cooperating with global customers the United States, China, and Japan,” said Brandon Cho Myung-Hyun, CEO and founder of SEMIFIVE. We aim to go for IPO in 2025, based on our entry into the global market and full-scale mass-production SEMIFIVE’s vision is to become the new global hub of custom silicon and through this, we will contribute to the development of Korea’s system semiconductor infrastructure and grow into a global company that leads the semiconductor industry.”
